Knowing Maria likes orchids, her father creates a secret admirer by sending anonymous love letters and fresh flowers from a mystery man. When Robert (Fred Astaire), a talented entertainer in Mr. Acuna's employ, delivers one of the phony love letters, Maria mistakes him for the suitor in question.
