Voices of Our Time - Barbara Bonney (DVD)
Combining performance footage with candid backstage interviews, this is a wonderful overview of the life and career of Barbara Bonney. The bulk of the musical highlights come in a rendition of Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe, which has been retitled A Scandinavian Dichterliebe. Malcolm Martineau accompanies her on the piano throughout, providing subtle backing to Bonney's stunning soprano voice. Bonney lived in Sweden for 8 years, which may explain the retitling of Schumann's work. While living there she uncovered many works from a variety of composers, most of which had seldom been performed outside of Scandinavia, and took to reworking them with a gusto familiar to her many fans. All of her remarkable achievements are catalogued here, providing a great way to experience the highs of her glittering career.DVD Features:Region 0Keep CaseAnamorphic WidescreenAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS Surround 5.1 PCM Stereo
