Antonin Dvorak's opera is an story that also plays as a children's tale, featuring a water nymph named Rusalka who falls in love with a man, and then becomes the subject of a spell created by a witch. The amazing rhythm and blues pianist Ray Charles overcame congenital blindness to become on of the most respected musicians of the 20th century. The subject of the award-winning 2004 biopic, RAY, Charles is a true inspiration. O GENIO is a beautifully shot record of a rarely seen 1963 concert that the virtuoso performed in Sao Paolo, Brazil. This reworking of Gaetano Donizetti's LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR was recorded at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova. Shot in June 2003, the production was originally taped for television, and beautifully captures some incredible performances. The Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice work their magic under the expert guidance of Patrick Fournillier, while a stellar cast work their way through the opera. Among them are Roberto Frontali (as Lord Enrico Ashton), Marcelo Alvarez (playing Sir Edgardo di Ravenswood), Stefania Bonfadelli (as Miss Lucia), and many others.
