The distinguished career of Luciano Pavarotti is celebrated on THE LAST TENOR, which follows the opera star as he prepares for his farewell tour. The tour coincides with Pavarotti`s 40th year as a recording artist, a milestone that has caused the singer to reflect on his life and career, and his musings are captured over the course of this film. Fond recollections of performing in some of the great opera houses are interspersed with performance footage of the great tenor in action, and although Pavarotti`s retirement is a sad loss to the music world, he leaves behind an awe-inspiring body of work that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

ORFEO& EURIDICE was a remarkable, influential, and revolutionary opera in multiple ways, demonstrative of many of the things that made Christoph Willibald Gluck a great composer. Eschewing the Baroque propensity toward over-ornamentation and stiff formality at the expense of dramatic flow. He wanted greatly to allow the poetry to shine through in the music, not be drowned out by superfluous pomp. Also manifesting a French influence, which Gluck wanted to meld with Italian opera, the work breaks down the traditional barriers between recitative and aria. Nonetheless, ORFEO& EURIDICE unfolds on a grand scale, employing choruses of shades and furies that contrast with Orfeo's earthly search for Euridice.
