When Matty moves to Miami in the hopes of giving up his Hollywood lifestyle and marrying his girlfriend Annie, everything falls apart when she turns him down. He goes on an overnight binge, meets a beautiful waitress also named Annie, and blacks out. Eighteen months later he is living in New York. Although he is also sober and attending AA meetings, his thoughts drift back to Miami and the two Annies of his previous life.
