The Opera Bastille provides a great setting for one of the last productions choreographed by Rudolph Nureyev during his stay in Paris. Manuel Legris and Monique Loudieres take the roles of the star-crossed lovers in the familiar tale, while Prokofiev's epic score is lovingly rendered by the Paris Opera Orchestra. Naturally the choreography is stunning throughout, with Nureyev even outdoing his own previous highs with some incredible set pieces. The chemistry between Legris and Loudieres is electric throughout, and the stage sets and lighting provide a subtle and appropriate backing for the ballet.
