This first-ever recording of Rossini`s penultimate opera for the Teatro San Carlo in Naples is given a top-notch interpretation by director Claudio Scimone, with Italian bass Lorenzo Regazzo singing the title role. Although the opera was written in 1820, this version incorporates the substantial changes Rossini instituted for its performance in Venice in 1822. Still following young Anna as she is torn between her true love and her duty to her father and country, the Secondo softens the score and adds a happy ending. This excellent recording of Rossini`s little-known work also features the Ambrosian Opera Chorus and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Sir Cliff Richard's first starring role was in this 1961 hit, which also spawned a top ten album and a number one single for Mr. Richard and his backing band, The Shadows. Sir Cliff stars as Nicky, the head of his Paddington youth club that is being threatened with demolition by a local tycoon named Hamilton Black unless Nicky and his friends can come up with 1500. The crew come up with the idea to put on a variety show to raise the cash, but realize that they must have some kind of star attraction. So, Nicky records a song that they broadcast over pirated airwaves, billing him as the mystery singer.
