Fritz Reiner Conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1953-1954) (DVD)
Hugely influential, the work of Fritz Reiner has left an indelible impression on the history of classical music. Having worked with some of the most important orchestras in Europe and America, he also produced some formidable proteges, such as Leonard Bernstein. But it's his work with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra which is perhaps most revered, and it is that which is featured on this release. Featuring music performed over two concerts from WHN's Hour of Music television show, the material was recorded in 1953 and 1954. Among the dazzling interpretations are versions of Mozart's Symphony No. 39, Bach's Toccata& Fugue in C Major, Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, and many others.DVD Features:Region (unknown)Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Tracks: 1.
