The career of Pierre Monteux has seen him conduct a fabulous array of ballet's all over the world. He established himself in America in 1916 after superlative work in his native Paris, with the Metropolitan Opera in New York offering him the chance to work with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for the first time in 1919.
