The New Zealand horror film THE LOCALS uses the setting of the threatening backwoods to similar effect as films like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Grant and Paul are buddies who decide to take a trip to get their minds off recent problems. While on the road, they run into two girls, Kelly and Lisa, who ask if they`re going to the party. The fun-loving guys, of course, say yes and offer the ladies a ride there. But little do they realize, getting deeper and deeper into strange territory, that THE LOCALS don`t appreciate outsiders coming into their land...which puts Grant and Paul in a battle for their lives against the bizarre hillbillies.
