the blood wedding --was composed towards the end of Fortner`s career, in 1957, and was based on texts by Federico Garcia Lorca. This live performance of this most moving of the composer`s works took place at Wurttembergische Staatsoper, Stuttgart, in 1964. Renowned soprano Amy Schlemm performs alongside an esteemed cast that includes Martha Modl, Margarethe Bence, Hans-Gunter Nocker, and Hetty Plumacher.
