Giuseppe Verdi – Nabucco (DVD)

Giuseppe Verdi was a defining figure in Italian opera, credited with reviving the form after the death of Rossini. NABUCCO was his breakthrough opera, and it was a great success, playing across Europe and marking the beginning of a long and fruitful career for the composer. The opera includes one of the most famous melodies ever written, created to express the Hebrews' homesickness, and adopted by the Italian people as a kind of second national anthem. The song was Va Pensiero, and it encapsulated the Italians' yearning for unification and liberation. This dramatic work offers a notoriously challenging role for soprano, with many having reputedly ruined their voices while playing the part of Abigaille. Performed here by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Di San Carlo and conducted by Paolo Carignani, the cast includes Renato Bruson, Maurizio Frusoni, Carlo Colombara, Lauren Flanigan, and Monica Bacelli.DVD Features:Region (Unknown)Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33
