Guiseppe Verdi's opera AIDA is so beloved and timeless that it is continually remade and updated; Elton John even brought it to Broadway as a musical. Set in Ancient Egypt, AIDA is a story of star-crossed lovers among royalty. Tragedy, desire, war; all of the elements of an epic melodrama are heightened by the amazing music and song. This 1997 open-air performance is beautifully staged in the Roman quarry at which the Opera Festival St. Margarethen takes place annually. Giorgio Croci conducts a notable cast, including Pauletta de Vaughn and Bruno Sebastian.DVD Features:Region 0Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 Dolby Digital 2.0
