Uriah Heep's straightforward, hard-rocking progressive sound was a recipe for success, making them one of the most popular bands of the early 1970s. Though they also sported an ever-revolving lineup, with more than 30 musicians counted as members at one time or another, the years when Ken Hensley (guitar, keyboards, vocals) was in the group were both the band's most prolific, as well as the peak of its popularity. Between 1972 and 1975 they released five albums, firmly establishing themselves in the canon of rock history. This critical review of the pinnacle of Uriah Heep's career offers an in-depth, insightful view of this most crucial period, and includes the first interview with Ken in 25 years, where he gives a frank and revealing account of his time with the band.
