Charles Gounod's epic opera of Romeo and Juliet premiered in 1867, where it was rapturously received and became his most popular opera. For an updated, filmed version, director Barbara Willis Sweete opened up the stage version and decided to film at a picturesque royal castle in the Czech Republic. In the lead roles, Sweete cast noted opera performers Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna, married couple who triumphed in the roles at the New York Met when they were newlyweds.DVD Features:Region 0Keep CaseWidescreen AnamorphicAudio: PCM Stereo Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS 5.1Additional Release Material: Trailers - 1.
