Formed by the surviving members of British band Joy Division after the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis, New Order (consisting of Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, and Gillian Gilbert) was one of the seminal bands of the 1980s, with innovative instrumentation, catchy hooks, and brooding, intelligent lyrics. Two separate programs are presented here: A COLLECTION is a complete compilation of New Order`s videos, and NEW ORDER STORY is a much-expanded version of a documentary about the group that was originally released in 1994. The videos are as varied and original as you`d expect from this band, and there are over 30 of them here, including
Perfect Kiss,
Bizarre Love Triangle,
and
Confusion,
as well as new versions of
Temptation
and
Ceremony.
Many of them are visual gems, worth viewing even without the classic songs they accompany. In addition, the documentary presented here is almost twice as long as the previously released version, with many more in-depth interviews and additional footage of the band`s excellent live performances; this fascinating group deserves no less.
