Performed by talented musicians Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, RAGA BHOOPALI is a peaceful, engaging work of classical Indian music. Playing the santoor--a traditional stringed instrument--as well as the flute and the tabla, the artists present this formally rigorous work in an improvised, spontaneous, and thoroughly enjoyable way. This release is a follow-up to 1967s blockbuster CALL OF THE VALLEY, which was the first thematic recording in Indian classical music, telling the story of a young couple living in the Kashmir Valley. The story of the sequel reflects the changing times, having shed some of the innocence and harmony originally depicted, while the work still aims to inspire peace and love through the medium of music.
