Beethoven – Missa Solemnis (DVD)

Michael Gielen conducts the Sudwestfunk Symphony Orchestra and Lubomir Matl directs the Prague Philharmonic Choir in this performance of Beethoven's MISSA SOLEMNIS IN D MAJOR, OP. 123. Though Beethoven is traditionally most associated with fairly bombastic (but spectacular) symphonies, this composition shows a completely different side to the composer. It is often considered his most spiritual work, an assertion that is hard to argue with. As beautiful a piece of music as this is not likely to be written or performed for a long time, and its stunning greatness is in full evidence in this performance by the Sudwestfunk Symphony Orchestra and Prague Philharmonic Choir.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - German Original Non-Compressed Stereo - GermanAdditional Release Materials: Music Analysis in SubtitlesInteractive Features: Interactive MenusText/Photo Galleries: Translation of Choral Text Glossary Historical Timeline Performer Profiles Liner Notes
